Burnsed is recouping, doing well

If you’ve been to the Bryan Bank and Trust lately, you might have noticed Jimmy Burnsed, CEO of the bank, hasn’t been in his office.

Burnsed, who is also the chairman of the Bryan County Board of Commissioners, had surgery July 18 in Orlando, Fla.

"The procedure was for prostate cancer, which, in men when caught early, can be taken care of quickly," Burnsed said. "The surgery removed the cancer and the doctor said everything is fine."

Burnsed’s doctor, a specialist, said he will have a two to three week recovery period and should be back to normal.

"Other than some fatigue and soreness, I feel pretty good already," he said Friday.

While he said he might not be able to be there for long, Burnsed plans to make an appearance next week at the opening of the newest branch of Bryan Bank and Trust.

The ribbon cutting will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the new site off Hwy. 17.
