The firefighters have been collecting items ranging from shaving cream and baby wipes to toothbrushes and water for those in Louisiana impacted by Hurricane Ida.

Thursday, Sept. 9 is the last day to donate items by dropping them off at a county fire station, according to BCES Chief Freddy Howell, and they’ll be “rolling out” and headed to Louisiana by Friday.

The firefighters have already collected a truckload of supplies, Howell said. “People are good hearted,” he noted. “Even with all the bad we have going on the world, we still have a lot of good people.”
