Pembroke City Administrator Alex Floyd calls Altie Moody “an overall amazing person.”
That’s understandable. It’s also probably an understatement.
At 105, Altie Moody is Bryan County’s oldest living resident. Moody, who turns 106 on Saturday, lives on the same 20-acre farm her family has owned since the 1940s, and is more independent than some people half her age. Just ask her son Daniel, who is 83. He recalled when she got her driver’s license renewed at the age of 100.
“She could still pass the eye test and fill out the paperwork, so they gave her the license,” he said.
But more on that and other Moody stories in an upcoming issue of the News. In the meantime, Moody will celebrate her 106th birthday at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Bryan County Senior Center in Pembroke. There are likely to be some big shots there, but the public is also invited.
If you can’t make it but would like to send her a card, her address is 1501 Moody Road, Pembroke, GA, 31321.
And if you’d like to make a donation in her honor, please make it to Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 914, Pembroke, GA, 31321.
