Bryan County NAACP awards scholarships to area high schoolers

The Bryan County NAACP Higher Education Scholarship was proud to award eight students, two from Bryan County High School and six from Richmond Hill High School, with education scholarships for their 2025 collegiate academic year. Each award recipient demonstrated academic excellence, positive leadership in action and a dedication to community service.

Higher education for the awardees will be pursued at a variety of institutions, including Georgia Southern University, Berry College, Howard University, and Georgia Institute of Technology, and University of Georgia Scholarship awards were presented to Tien Vu, Audrey Garlick, Addison Brooks, Mmekom Inyang, Katie Goldrick and Tyler Gilbert on May 12th at the Richmond Hill High School Senior Honors Night.

Scholarship awards were presented to Emma Strickland and Kayla Kilmer on May 12th at the Bryan County High School Senior Honors Night.

Award amounts ranged from $750 to $1,000 for a total dollar amount of $ 7,250.00 Established in February 2021, the Bryan County NAACP Higher Education Scholarship’s vision is to provide not only financial assistance to students striving for academic, professional, and personal excellence, but a complete system of networking, professional mentorship, and community engagement opportunities to students within the Bryan County area.

To date, the Bryan County NAACP has awarded 48 scholarships and a total of $55,250.

The Regional Industry Support Enterprise in partnership with International Paper, the City of Savannah, Chatham County, WorkSource Coastal and Savannah Technical College will host an eight-county (Bryan, Bulloch, Candler, Chatham, Effingham, Evans, Liberty and Screven) job fair Thursday, Sept. 11, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Friday, Sept. 12, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Enmarket Arena, 620 Stiles Ave.
