Bryan County Family Connection honors its volunteer partners
Bryan County Family Connection

During an appreciation luncheon last week, leaders of the Bryan County Family Connection made it clear to their volunteer partners: We couldn’t do this without your support.

Nearly 70 local businesses and organizations were recognized, receiving a certificate of appreciation and as BCFC Chairwoman Lauren Francis stated, “If it wasn’t for you, we wouldn’t be who we are today.”

Francis, who said the goal of the organization is to make Bryan County better, thanked the volunteer partners, and along with director Wendy Sims, spoke of the progress and achievements made by the organization since its inception more than 25 years ago.

Sims treated the audience to a slideshow of images portraying the good work done by the group and its volunteers.

The mission of the Bryan County Family Connection is to bridge the gap between agencies in an effort to provide quality services so that all families and children within the community can reach their highest potential.

The local organization is a part of Georgia Family Connection Partnership, a statewide initiative of 159 community collaborative partnerships committed to making measurable improvements for children and families in Georgia. Each collaborative serves as the local decision-making body, bringing community partners together to develop, implement, and evaluate plans that address the serious challenges facing Georgia’s children and families.

The group is teaming up with the Coastal Health District Adolescent Health & Youth Development and Savannah Prevention Center to present its first Save a Life Youth Health Summit in Richmond Hill on June 23.
