City officials posed with members of the Boles family for a ribbon cutting on the 5-acre Boles Park on Harris Trail Road, which has been renovated to honor the contributions of the family to Richmond Hill.

The initial focus at the park is on telling the stories of the Rev. David Boles Sr. and Sgt. Harry Lee Boles, Dr. Karen Boles Grant said in September during a ground-breaking ceremony.

The Rev. David Boles Sr. was an area religious and secular community leader and a grandfather of Grant, a longtime educator who in turn has been a driving force behind seeing the park improved.

Harry Lee Boles, Grant’s brother, was killed in Vietnam in 1969.
