Bryan County Schools have long had a reputation for getting it done in the classroom. But the school system may also deserve a reputation for thriftiness. The system has some of the tightest purse strings in the state when it comes to spending money on operating costs, overall administration and transportation, according to information from the Georgia Department of Education. “What the numbers tells me is that we have less fat at the top than probably 98 percent of the school systems in the state,” said BoE chairman Eddie Warren, pointing to statistics available on the DoE website.
