BCSO Blotter: Stolen boat motor, concern over pet welfare
bryan county sheriff

From the Bryan County Sheriff's Office reports

Boat motor reported stolen

  • Deputy dispatched to El Cheapo on SR-144 in response to a stolen boat motor. The man explains that after a day on the water, he stopped at the El Cheapo parking lot around 14:30, parked his vehicle and boat, and went inside the Game Time Tavern to have a bite to eat, which is located in the same shopping center as El Cheapo. When he returned to his vehicle and boat, he realized his 1500 Mercury 2-stroke boat motor was gone.

Concern over pet welfare

  • Deputy dispatched in response to an animal complaint at the Buckhead Pool. The deputy spoke with the complainant who stated that she had heard barking coming from a gray van in the parking lot and when she approached it, the vehicle turned off. She stated she loved dogs and that she could not just leave them there in the heat. The deputy then met the owners of the vehicle who began exchanging words with the complainant, who was beginning to cry. The owners (a couple) stated that the van had always been running and that they would check on the dogs within 15 minutes to ensure their safety. The woman stated it may have sounded like the vehicle was off because it was a hybrid.
