From Bryan County Sheriff ’s Office initial incident reports.
Dog bite: A South Bryan man reported Feb. 16 that his daughter was bitten by a neighbor’s dog while at a friend’s birthday party.
Damage to property: A deputy was sent to a North Bryan address around 4 p.m. Jan. 16, where a woman told him “diseases were coming into her yard via the air from the golf course while the golf carts are being pressure washed.” After some discussion, when asked if she had proof of there being “diseases in the water,” the woman told the deputy to check the Homeland Security Website.
“I asked her what she would like me to do,” the deputy wrote. “She stated that she wanted them to stop using the pressure washer and a report. I told her I could do a report, but I cannot make them stop using a pressure washer on their property.”
The deputy then checked at the golf course, but “did not observe any chemicals or other substances, besides water, being used to wash the golf carts.”
Welfare check: A deputy was sent Feb. 16 to an Ellabell location regarding an SUV parked on the side of the road with the driver passed out. The driver was taken by ambulance to East Georgia Regional Medical Center.
Suicide threat: First responders were sent to an Ellabell address around 5:42 p.m. Feb. 16 due to reports a woman had taken pills. She told the deputy and paramedics she lied about taking the pills and refused a trip to the hospital. Around 8:19 p.m. the deputy was sent back to the same address after the woman reportedly said she’d taken the pills but lied to the deputy earlier because she was afraid she’d have to go to the hospital. She was checked out by EMS and found to be ok, and she again refused to go to the hospital. The woman was given “options for help by law and by EMS for future incidents.”
Simple assault: A South Bryan woman reported Feb. 16 her 14-year-old home-schooled daughter assaulted her after an argument over math work. The woman said she doesn’t want her daughter in the system but needs help because the girl “usually acts this way when her father leaves for deployment.” A Department of Juvenile Justice worker was contacted.

Warrant: A deputy met with Bulloch County deputies Feb. 14 at the county line to take custody of a man wanted on a warrant in Bryan County.
DUI, public indecency: A deputy was called to a Belfast River Road location around 9:45 p.m. Feb. 14 regarding “a male subject (who) was standing outside of his vehicle in the roadway, urinating.” The man’s vehicle had two flat tires, apparently the result of it hitting a curb.
The 32-year-old man, who didn’t speak English – he is Korean – smelled strongly of alcohol and had difficulty standing and walking. He told the deputy he only had one beer, but reportedly blew a .193 on a preliminary breath test. While trying to take a state breath test at RHPD, the man “repeatedly burped and made gagging or vomiting sounds,” which led to a request for a blood test instead. The man agreed. He was taken to jail.
Forgery: A truck stop employee on Highway 280 in Black Creek reported Feb. 14 a “white male with a tattoo under his eye and silver teeth attempted to use a fake $50 bill in order to pay for products.” The employee said “she knew that bill was fake because it had ‘motion picture money’ printed on it.” The woman said she wouldn’t take the money, so the man took the fake $50 and left. Store video showed the man getting into another car, and another deputy recognized the man from an earlier traffic stop. The store wanted to press charges, so a warrant was issued for the man.

Suspicious incident: Deputies were sent to a Richmond Hill address around 3:20 a.m. Feb. 15 regarding “a report of one or two females screaming for help somewhere in the area, followed by a single gunshot.”
Deputies and RHPD officers met with the complainant, who said he was outside walking his dog when he heard what he heard. The area was searched but nothing was found.
Matter of record: Deputies were sent around 6 a.m. Feb. 15 to a South Bryan address regarding a woman who was having some mental issues.
Theft by extortion: A South Bryan man reported Feb. 14 scammers attempted to extort money from him as used a dating app called Upward. The scam involved a woman texting him naked photos, him returning the favor, and then a man pretending to be her father and calling the would-be victim from a 404 area code to say the girl was actually under 18. The man said the would-be victim broke his daughter’s laptop and he’d take $5,000 to replace it. Then another man joined in the conversation posing as a cop, which is when the would-be victim got suspicious and called police. A deputy called the number left by the fake officer and was hung up on. The deputy told the would-be victim he might want to deactivate his social media to make sure no “unwanted pictures” were sent to family members.
