From Bryan County Sheriff’s Office reports:

July 15: A deputy heading east on Highway 204 around 8:56 p.m. clocked a westbound pickup going 82 mph and turned around to make a traffic stop. The driver of the pickup, meanwhile, turned on his hazard lights, then apparently turned off 204 onto a dirt road and stopped, and turned its head lights off. The deputy turned around and went back to see if it was the same pickup and about that time the driver headed back to 204 to go east and nearly hit a westbound SUV, but stopped. The deputy hit his blue lights and the pickup driver stopped. After some discussion it appeared the driver, who claimed he didn’t see the deputy, was headed home to his place in Chatham County but “recently had the muffler cut off his truck and wanted to hear it.” He was charged with speeding, fleeing and reckless driving. He called his dad to come get the pickup.

July 15: A man was arrested for driving without a license and running a stop sign after a deputy saw him run a stop sign at Black Creek Church Road and Highway 280 and learned the man didn’t have a license. His car was turned over to a licensed driver.

July 14: A driver on I-16 said he was headed east on I-16 early in the morning when a tractor trailer towing a shipping container had a blowout in front of him. The driver couldn’t avoid hitting pieces of the tire and one damaged his front bumper. A deputy tracked down the name of the driver of the truck. The complainant got a case number.

July 14: A J.R. Drive woman reported damage to her rental home. She told deputies subleased it to another woman, who hadn’t paid her rent prior to leaving and had damaged carpet and walls. The cost of the repairs was $600. She got a case number and was told how to go through magistrate court to try and recover her damages.

He was arrested for driving without a license and improper backing, but was allowed to call his supervisor to come get the van.

She told the deputy she locked herself in a bathroom and could hear them talking about assaulting her. She also claimed they also planted “a green leafy substance” in her purse to frame her. She got a case number, and was escorted from the job site by the deputy, who also went back to look at video from security cameras. The green leafy substance was destroyed.

July 13: A North Bryan woman reported her uncle threatened to kill her and her dog. She was given a report number.

July 13: A deputy was sent to a Holly Hill Road address due to a verbal dispute among neighbors, and met a man who said he was inside when he heard a noise, went outside and found his mailbox was broken.

The man said he was told the noise came from a man who lived across the street and hit the mailbox while backing out of his driveway. That man, who the report said appeared to be intoxicated, was backing out when he lost control and hit the mailbox. He told the deputy he’d fix the mailbox.

But at some point, the man with the broken mailbox “took a bat and struck the back” of the car that hit it. The driver was cited for driving too fast for conditions and failure to report damage, and the man was cited for damage to property.

She told the deputy the driver, a white male, jerked “the car in their direction.” The car was gone when the deputy got there. The complainant asked for extra patrols in the area.

July 13: A woman pulled over on Highway 144 because her tag came up on a deputy’s computer as belonging to an owner with a suspended license was let off with a ticket after she showed the deputy receipts where she’d taken care of the matter.
