Voters begin casting ballots for a number of state and federal races on Oct. 15.

Advance voting continues through Nov. 2. The general election is Nov. 6.

Locations include the Bryan County Commissioners meeting rooms at the courthouse in Pembroke and the South Bryan Administrative Complex on Capt. Matthew Freeman Drive, and the Wetlands Center at J.F. Gregory Park. 

Advance voting runs from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 15-Nov. 2 and from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27.

Among the races that will impact Bryan County residents is that for U.S. representative between incumbent Buddy Carter, a Republican from Pooler, and challenger Lisa Ring, a Richmond Hill Democrat. 

At the state level, Brian Kemp, a Republican currently serving as Georgia Secretary of State, is facing Stacey Abrams, a Democrat and former state legislator from Atlanta.

State Rep. Ron Stephens, R-Garden City, is facing a challenge from Alicia Scott, a Chatham County Democrat, for House 164 seat. It represents South Bryan. 

State Sen. Ben Watson, M.D., a Savannah Republican, is being challenged by Sandra Workman, a Richmond Hill Democrat. 

Another Richmond Hill Democrat, Otha Thornton, is running for state school superintendent against Richard Woods, the Republican incumbent. Write-in candidate Dr. Sonia Francis-Rolle is also seeking the office.

There are no contested local races. 

In Richmond Hill, voters will decide whether to allow the Sunday sale of alcohol by the drink from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

Referendum question for RH voters 


Richmond Hill residents can vote on whether to allow restaurants to sell liquor by the drink starting at 11 a.m. on Sundays.

Sunday sales now start at 12:30 p.m.

The City of Richmond Hill will hold a Special Referendum Election on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, for the purpose of voting on the question of whether or not the governing authority of the City of Richmond Hill, Georgia, shall be authorized to permit and regulate Sunday sales of distilled spirits or alcoholic beverages for beverage purposes by the drink between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

 

The ballot will read as follows:

 

(   ) YES   

 

Shall the governing authority of the City of Richmond Hill, Georgia be authorized to permit and regulate Sunday sales of distilled spirits or alcoholic beverages for beverage purposes by the drink between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

 

 

(   ) NO                 

 

All persons desiring to vote for approval of Sunday sales of distilled spirits or alcoholic beverages for beverage purposes by the drink between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. shall vote “Yes,” and all persons desiring to vote for rejection of Sunday sales of distilled spirits or alcoholic beverages for beverage purposes by the drink between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. shall vote “No.”
