Kimberly Hickman, Harrison Bocook and William Schuler, all of Richmond Hill, were recently initiated into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society.

Hickman was initiated at Georgia Southern University. Bocook was initiated at the University of Georgia. Schuler was initiated at North Carolina State University. They are among roughly 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year.

Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter.

Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

Eleanor Doty Cunningham of Richmond Hill is among the more than 5,400 candidates for graduation from the University of Mississippi who will be celebrated during a live, virtual celebratory event on May 9, 2020.

Cunningham, who is an integrated marketing communications major, is a candidate for a Bachelor of Science degree in the School of Journalism and New Media.

UM leaders continue to evaluate plans to hold an in-person commencement ceremony at a later date.
