MCLEAN, Texas A Texas woman was nearly blown away by her boyfriends one-of-a-kind marriage proposal.

Thats because her storm-chasing fianc dropped to one knee just as a tornado raged in the background.

Britney Fox has always known her boyfriend of 18 months Alex Bartholomew as one who is not afraid to take risks. He does, after all, chase dangerous storms in his free time, Today reported.

So when he asked her to join him on a tornado hunt earlier this month, she knew it would be a thrill ride. Little did she know, Bartholomew himself had epic plans to be the one to sweep her off her feet.

I really wanted to propose in front of a tornado to combine the two loves of my life, he told Today.

Bartholomew who purchased an engagement ring back in March recruited several of his storm-chasing pals to help him with the big event, according to a post on his Facebook page.

As the crew approached a brewing tornado near McLean, Texas, they pulled over to the side of the road and Bartholomew led Fox out of the car for a better look.

It was far enough away that I wasnt even a little bit nervous, Fox told the Dallas Morning News.

Bartholomew was the one with the nerves as he dropped to one knee to pop a pretty important question. But it turns out he didnt have anything to fear but the storm.

I almost forgot about the tornado behind us because all I could see was him and how happy I felt in that moment, Fox told the Huffington Post.

One of Bartholomews friends took photos of the magical moment, while the other two caught the event on video all of which Bartholomew shared on his Facebook page.

Wow what a day, he wrote. Two (maybe 3 tornadoes), great storms and most importantly she said YES! I cant quite describe the feeling that has overcome me. Elated, ecstatic, overjoyed

The awe-inspiring photos quickly went viral garnering more than a thousand reactions and 583 shares as of Tuesday night.

What a way to start your lives together, wrote one commenter. Congratulations.

Congrats!!! wrote another. Now run and take cover!

The couples story has been featured on numerous national news outlets even the Weather Channel gave them a shoutout.

While all the attention has been exciting, the real celebration lies in the outcome of the proposal, according to Bartholomew.

I seriously couldnt ask for a better life and I cant wait to spend it with her by my side, he wrote on Facebook.

Bartholomew picked a good day for the chase there were more than two dozen reported tornadoes throughout the U.S. on May 16, according to USA Today.
