The comedy mystery dinner theater show “Murder 101,” an interactive presentation set at a class reunion of a closing high school, will be staged at 7 p.m. Friday at Club Stewart.

As various alumni gather to say good-bye to their beloved alma mater, old rivalries and new alliances add up to an evening of murder and mayhem.

The cost for the dinner is $17 per person. The menu includes tossed garden salad, beef bourguignon, Thyme infused roasted chicken, Roasted garlic mashed potatoes w/ demi sauce, Rice pilaf with bay leaves, Buttered pimento corn nibblettes, green beans almondine and assorted chef's delight.

Registration for Pheasant Shoots at Stewart

Registration for Pheasant Shoots to be held in February and March at the Taylors Creek DZ off Highway 144 West on Fort Stewart will close Feb. 24.  The shoots are scheduled Feb. 19 and March 5.

Twenty shooters for a morning hunt and 20 for an afternoon hunt Feb. 19 will be chosen by lottery Feb. 10. Another lottery, this one on Feb. 24, will be held to choose 20 shooters each for the morning and afternoon shoots of March 5. Half of the slots will be given to Active Duty military.

Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield Active Duty Soldiers, retirees, Army employees and sportsmen from the surrounding community can register for the lottery drawings at the Stewart Pass and Permit Office, building 8093, or the Hunter Pass and Permit Office, building 1286. There is no charge to register.

Redeployment Golf Membership Drive     

Soldiers redeploying back to Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield can join Taylors Creek Golf Course and Hunter Golf Club for 20 per cent off the Fiscal Year 2011 prorated fee from now until March 31. For more information, call 912-767-2370 at Stewart or 912-315-9115 at Hunter.

 

Youth Track & Field/Spring Soccer Registration

Registration will end Feb. 25 for the Fort Stewart Spring Soccer 2011 season that begins March 1. Register online at https://webtrac.mwr.army.mil/webtrac/stewartcyms.html/ or in person at Parent Central Services, building CT-0029 at Fort Stewart. The telephone number is 912-767-2312.

Ringling Bros. Zing Zang Zoom Circus

 Get ready for what has been described as a “thrill-filled, mind-blowing circus spectacular where family fun is no illusion.”

It’s the Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Zing Zang Zoom Gold Edition, and Leisure Travel will take you to the Savannah Civic Center for all the fun and excitement at 11 a.m. Jan. 22. But hurry, the registration deadline is Jan. 16.

The cost per person is $20, which includes admission and transportation. Ages 2 and up must have a ticket to enter.

Aerobic Thon & Health Fair

Here’s an event to help you reach your goal of being more fit this year: the Aerobic-thon & Health Fair from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Jan. 22 at Newman Fitness Center.

The Aerobic-Thon offers a sample of various aerobic style classes taught by certified instructors with different fitness backgrounds. Styles will include kick-boxing, step, Zumba, line-dancing, Pilates and much more. 

The health fair portion of this event will feature fitness assessments including body fat measurement, nutritional information and health screenings.

Active Duty Soldiers, Retirees, Family Members and Army Civilians are invited to take part. There is no charge. Call 912-767-3031 for more information.

 

Third Annual Wildlife Gala

The Third Annual Wildlife Gala will be held from 5-8 p.m. Jan. 22 in the Main Ballroom of Club Stewart.

The annual event has grown popular among hunting and fishing enthusiasts at Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield.  It will feature results of 2010 Managed Deer Hunt, Wildlife Photo Contest, Gobbler Contest, Big Buck Contest and Venison Cook-off. There will be award presentations. Vendors will have various displays.

Door prizes will be given away and a video describing Stewart/Hunter hunting and fishing opportunities in 2011 will be shown. Bring the whole Family.

Guys & Dolls Golf Outing at Taylors Creek

Come on out at play golf with your significant other during this 9-hole scramble event at Taylors Creek Golf Course. Play begins with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. on Jan. 23.

Bedtime Stories at Hays Library

Youth Action Council Meeting

A Youth Action Council meeting is scheduled from 5-6:30 p.m. Jan. 27 at School Age Youth Services, building 8805, Hunter Army Airfield.

Military connected youth (grades 6-12) are encouraged to discuss quality of life issues affecting them and to develop opportunities for volunteering and civic support. Pizza will be provided after the meeting.

Final Managed Hunt of Season

The final Managed Hunt of the season, for hogs/coyotes only, will be held from 5 a.m. until approximately 6 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Red Cloud Range Complex on Fort Stewart.

The hunts provide a supervised hunting experience for Soldiers, help manage the hog and coyote population at Fort Stewart and promote good stewardship of federal lands.

Active duty Soldiers are given priority in the hunt, but retirees also may enter the drawing at which participants are chosen. The cost is $10 per hunter. Registration ends at noon Jan. 6 and the lottery drawing will be at 2 p.m. that day.

Hog hunt participants will have the opportunity to hunt at dawn and again in the afternoon, with lunch provided in between.  Cleaning station will be provided.

Teen Rock ‘n Bowl Nite

Calling all teens 13-18 years old for a night out Jan. 29 and on the last Saturday of each month. 

Rock and bowl at Stewart Lanes Bowling Center, building 450, under the cool lights and music. Bring your favorite music and we will play it on the sound system. The cost is $2 per game and $1.75 for shoe rental.

Please remember to get your parents’ permission and that all teens are required to remain inside the facility after 11 p.m. Fort Stewart curfew rules apply.

Museum of Science & History Trip

Travel to Jacksonville, Fla., and visit The Museum of Science & History on Feb. 5 with Leisure Travel.

The sign-up deadline is Feb. 3. The cost per person is $20, which includes admission, a science show and an animal show. Planetarium shows are $5 extra for the first program and $1 for each additional.
