“Cinderella,” rated PG13, will be the shown Friday as part of the Holbrook Pond Movies Under the Stars series. It is free and begins at sundown. It lasts 105 minutes. Popcorn and drinks will be available for sale (cash only). Movie-goers should bring chairs or blankets. For more information, call 912-767-4316.

 

Dinner and a movie

Break your Saturday routine, lose the sweats and enjoy Dinner and a Movie at Club Stewart on Saturday. Watch the comedy-drama, “Chef,” about a chef who loses his job and starts a food truck to reclaim his creative promise and piece together his broken family. The cost is $25 per person, which includes a three-course gourmet meal, inspired by food truck dishes, and dessert. Beers and cocktails available for purchase. All you can eat appetizers available at 6 followed by dinner and the movie at 7. Reserve your seats today.

Back-to-school fairs

Community Activity Information Registration and back-to-school fairs will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 26 at Newman Fitness Center on Fort Stewart and July 28 at Tominac Fitness Center on Hunter.

Free backpacks and school supplies will be provided by Operation Homefront for children of E1-E6 or all ranks of post 9/11 wounded, ill or injured, including deployed National Guard and Reserve on Title 10 federal orders.

Families must register online before the fair to receive a backpack. Supplies are limited. Register at Events.OperationHomefront.net

The fairs let parents talk with representatives from DoDEA (Stewart only), public, private and post-secondary schools to help them prepare their children for school.

Representatives of recreational and cultural activities, restaurants and businesses also participate.

Hunter CYSS hours

All Hunter CYSS programs (CDC's, SAC/MST, Youth Sports and Parent Central Services) will close at 5 p.m. July 26 so staff can attend training at Club Stewart. Also on that day, Fort Stewart Youth Activity Center and Youth Fitness Center will close at 6 p.m. for the training.

 

Golf scramble

Be a part of the camaraderie and fun at the Commander’s Golf Scramble at 1 p.m. July 29 at Hunter Golf Course. The course was designed by George W. Cobb and, with its re-grassed greens, is one of the best-kept golfing secrets in the area.

Play will be 4-person scramble format. Public is welcome. The cost is $45, which includes tournament, golf cart, driving range, light lunch and prizes. Sign up by July 27. For more information, call 912-315-9115.

 

UFC 201

UFC 201, with “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler battling “The Chosen One” Tyron Woodley in the main fight, will be live on Pay-Per-View July 30 at Club Stewart. Also on the fight card: Rose Namajunas vs Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Matt Brown vs Jake Ellenberger.

Club Stewart opens at 7 for fight night, which is open to those 18 and older. Food and drink specials are offered. There is a $5 entry fee. Shuttles will be available from designated barracks. Scheduled fights are subject to change by UFC.

Bodybuilding

Are you competing or thinking of competing in bodybuilding, physique or figure competitions? Learn how to pose and perfect your onstage presence at a Bodybuilding, Physique and Figure Posing Clinic at 10 a.m. July 30, Aug. 6 and 20. Princess Tea

The Mad Hatter Princess Tea, offering the military families an afternoon of tea, finger foods, games and crafts, will be at the Fort Stewart Youth Activity Center on Aug. 13. Attire is princess and prince. Seatings will be at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Tickets are on sale through Aug. 5 at Stewart/Hunter Leisure Travel offices and Stewart Bowling Center. The cost is $10 for general admission and $5 for youth (ages 10 and younger). Range shoot

Soldiers, retirees, Army civilians and guests can sight in large-caliber weapons (registered at Fort Stewart) from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Aug. 13 at Red Cloud Echo Range Complex. Rifles of any caliber. No pistols or shotguns. Targets at 100-500 meters (paper) and 750-1,000 meters (steel). Cost is $15 per two-hour block/person. Bring correct cash. National Bowling Day

Enjoy bargains on bowling at both Marne Bowling Center and Stewart Bowling Center on National Bowling Day Aug. 13. Bowl for $1 per game from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Marne Bowling Center and from 11:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Stewart Bowling Center. Shoe rental is $2.50 per person. Part-time child care

Child, Youth and School Services has added part-time and part-day care to its child care services, effective in August. Hourly and full day care options currently provided by CYSS are not affected.

The additional services are to give parents and guardians a greater variety of options and flexibility in child care. Registration began July 5.
