Turkey egg hunt for kids on Stewart

Help find all of the eggs left by turkeys around Cypress Creek Adventure Golf on Nov. 28. Kids, ages 0-5, are invited to hunt for the missing eggs while having fun. The egg hunt is free and starts at 10 a.m. For more information, call 912-767-4273.

 

Golf scramble

Be a part of the Commanders Golf Scramble at noon Friday at Taylors Creek Golf Course. Play will be 4-person scramble format. Public is welcome. It costs $45 per person, which includes play, golf cart, driving range prizes and mulligans. For more information, call 912-767-2370.

 

Christmas tree lightings

The Christmas tree outside Club Stewart will come to life and Santa will arrive at a tree lighting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 30. There will be seasonal music by the 3rd ID Band and Liberty County High School Chorus. The audience can join in singing with Santa’s elf. Plus, there will be free MWR kiddie train rides. FRGS will sell ornaments, glow batons, glow sticks and refreshments (cash only). Old St. Nick will be available for pictures, so bring your cameras. There’s no charge. Santa will arrive and the decorated tree outside Hunter Club will light up during a ceremony there at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 2. Music will be provided by members of the 3rd ID Band and Pulaski Elementary School Chorus. Sing holiday songs along with Santa’s elf. Free MWR kiddie train rides. Santa will be available for pictures, so bring your cameras. Trees for Troops give-away to soldiers and family members will follow the ceremony on a first-come basis.

The Trees for Troops distribution to soldiers and families on Fort Stewart will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 3. Trees are given on a first-come basis at Newman Fitness Center, while supplies last.

Great Santa Chase

Join in chasing Santa’s sleigh in the Great Santa Chase Fun Run at 9:30 a.m. at Newman Field on Dec. 3. You might get a peek at the presents in the sleigh. The cost is $5 per person, or $10 for a family of four.

Santa has partnered with Georgia Game Changers to give 20 families free entrance to the 5K Chase. Family passes are available on a first-come basis at Game Changers while supplies last. Brunch with Santa

Enjoy Brunch with Santa, including a photo op, from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 4 at Club Stewart. The menu includes traditional favorites, plus Southern breakfast favorites, omelet station, carving station and more. Buy tickets at Club Stewart by Nov. 30 for $14.95 for adults and $6.45 for children 3-10 years old. After Nov. 30, pay $17.95 for adults and $7.45 for children 3-10. Children 2 and under eat free. Holidays at Holbrook Pond

Holbrook Pond Recreation Area will glow with Christmas lights and decorations and buzz with activities for young and old alike starting at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 9-10.

It’s part of the much-anticipated Holiday Hayride and Light Festival at the Fort Stewart site.

It has the ingredients for great holiday family fun: scenes that light up the campground rail for the 15 to 20-minute hayrides, boat rides, roasting marshmallows and making s’mores, children sharing their lists and having photos taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus, the MWR kiddie train and pony rides.

Plus, the Kringle Market, sponsored by FRGs, will have holiday gifts and treats, cash only.

The cost is $15 per vehicle both nights.

If you miss the special events, you can ride through the Holbrook area at no charge and see the decorations from 6-8:30 p.m. until Dec. 25. 

 

Basketball

The Intramural Sports Office is looking for teams to play in a company-level basketball league. Starting Dec. 5 and continuing through March 24, games will be played on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings at Newman and Johnson Fitness Centers on Fort Stewart, and at Tominac Fitness Center at Hunter. Play all you can

Hunter Golf Course has extended its Play All You Can promotion through Nov. 30. The $25 per person price is available seven days a week, from 7:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m., and is open to all golfers, including civilian, and includes golf cart and green fees. Managed hunt

Registration is under way for a Dec. 17 managed hunt in the Bravo 4 Area of Fort Stewart. There are 50 slots, 45 for soldiers and five for retirees. Registration accepted at Stewart/Hunter Pass and Permit offices until noon Dec. 7. Drawing to determine participants will be at 1 p.m. that day. Cost is $25 per person for those selected. CrossFit Challenge

Register now for the CrossFit Fort Stewart Warrior Challenge Jan. 21 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at Caro Fitness Center. The cost is $35 per person. Soldiers, family members and Army civilians and others are invited to compete. Register online at www.StewartMWR.com. Contestants in eight age and gender divisions must complete three high-intensity, varied movement workouts.

Basketball and cheerleading

Fort Stewart youth basketball and cheerleading registration continues through November or until slots are full. Basketball is for ages 5-17 and cheer is for ages 6-13. Register at Parent Central Services. Volunteer coaches are needed. For more information, call 912-767-1428.
