Open play paintball at Hunter

Hunter Outdoor Recreation will host a paintball event Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Hotel 6 training area (off South Perimeter Road) just past the runway approach before the golf course on the left.

Participants under age 18 must have legal guardian sign a waiver. The cost of $25 includes all equipment, field fee and 500 paintballs.

Outdoor Recreation will be running open play the last Saturday of every month. For more information, call 912-315-9554.

 

Scary Movie Night Under the Stars

Watch the movie “Ghostbusters” under the stars at 7 p.m. Saturday at Holbrook Pond (off Hwy. 144 E.). There is no charge to view the movie. Refreshments (popcorn, hotdog, and drink) are available for $2. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets.

ThunderWeen After Dark Party

Club Stewart presents a “ThunderWeen” After Dark Party, for ages 18 and older, from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. Saturday.

There will be prizes for best costume, scariest costume, most original costume and other costume fun, in addition to door prizes all night. Drink specials and $1 shots. The cost is $5 per person.

Also, visit the Haunted Fun Room across from Thunder Run in Warriors Lounge for a $5 cover charge.

Company Level Intramural Bowling League

Compete, along with your fellow soldiers, for the Commanding General Trophy in bowling. Play begins Nov. 1 and continues through January at Marne Lanes and Hunter Lanes. Register at Stewart or Hunter sports offices.

Four-person teams will compete in round robin format, with the top three scores counted for each game. Teams bowl two games per match. The cost is $4 per person and $2 shoe rental per match.

Latin Favorites on Thunder Run Menu

Latin favorites, one of four Internationally Inspired Cuisine Night offerings, are on the menu Nov. 2 at Club Stewart’s Thunder Run restaurant.   

Other foods on the rotating menu are German, American and Italian favorites. Service is every Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at Thunder Run. The cost is $9.95 per adult and half-price for children ages 5-10. There is no charge for children 4 and under.

Teddy Bear Day at Library

Children up to age 12 are invited to hear stories and make related crafts about teddy bears from 4-5 p.m. Nov. 2 at the George P. Hays Library, building 411.  Kids, bring your favorite teddy bear to Storytime. There is no charge.

Sign-ups Begin Nov. 3 for Hunter Skeet/Trap Event

Registration begins Nov. 3 for Hunter Army Airfield’s quarterly Skeet/Trap Shoot Event, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Hunter Skeet/Trap range, building 8250 off South Perimeter Road.

Mossy Oak Gun Club will pay the registration fee for the first 15 soldiers who register. The soldiers need only bring a shotgun (or request one from Outdoor Recreation), and purchase shells.

The cost is $25 for skeet or trap (50 birds); or $40 for skeet and trap (100 birds). Lunch is included. Sign-ups will be accepted on the day of the event, beginning at 9 a.m.

Safety briefing and flights set-up will begin at 9:45 a.m. Three fields will be used, two for skeet and one for trap, and flights will be fired every 45 minutes starting at 10 a.m. Prizes will be awarded after the shoot, including winners and door prizes. Participants must be present to win.

The competition will include:

Skeet division (50 birds) – expert, intermediate, novice, youth and ladies. 

Trap – one division (50 birds), with all skill levels combined.

Skeet and Trap- one division (100 birds), all skill levels combined.

 Jordan Gym Clinic to Launch CYSS Youth Wrestling Program

A free wrestling clinic, for youth interested in learning the sport, will be from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 5 at Jordan Youth Gym, building 608. 

The clinic is to give participants an overview of wrestling before the inaugural season begins. It will also serve as a trial for youth who are interested, but unsure if this is the sport for them.  

Participants will learn the fundamentals, receive a brief overview of the program, and learn about plans for the season. There will also be videos, demonstrations of basic moves, opportunities for hands-on instruction and wrestling games. Registration for the season will be accepted at the clinic.  

The time will also be used to answer questions about the program, the sport, and the process of teaching youth to become responsible, competitive and cautious wrestlers.

Register from Nov. 1-4 at Jordan Gym. Participants are asked to wear shorts (free of belts, buckles and rivets), shirts and clean tennis shoes and bring a water bottle.

The youth wrestling season will be from Nov. 12-Feb. 12 and is open to all CYSS registered youth ages 7-18. Participants must have a sports physical. Registration for the season will continue until all spots are full. The cost to participate is $20 per child.

Youth Sponsorship’s Musical & Ice Cream Parlor Visit

CYSS-registered youth in grades 5-12 will experience the “Return to the 50’s” musical at the Savannah Theatre, America’s oldest continuously operated theater, and visit an old-time ice cream parlor Nov. 5 during the Youth Sponsorship trip to Savannah.

Registration will be accepted until Nov. 3. The trip is free, except for the ice cream.

The group will depart from Fort Stewart Youth Center at 1 p.m. and from Hunter School Age Services at 2 p.m.

Youth to Visit Veterans Center

The CYSS/Youth Sponsorship Veteran’s Day Visit to the VA Center in Dublin will be from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 11. CYSS-registered youth in grades 5-12 may take part in the Veteran’s Day program and have lunch at the center.

The free trip offers a unique opportunity for military-connected youth to visit with disabled veterans. Registration will be accepted until Nov. 9.

Time Bowling, Red Pin Bowling at Hunter Lanes

Like to bowl fast?  Come on to Hunter Lanes, building 1280, on Thursdays from 5-11 p.m. One person or a group can bowl for $15 for one hour. Shoe rental is $2 per person. The special is good during October.

And from 7-11 p.m. on Saturdays, you might just win a free game during Red Pin Bowling. When a red pin appears in the No. 1 position, bowl a strike and win a free game. The cost is $3 per game and $2 for shoe rental.
