The Richmond Hill Historical Society will host a lecture on Strathy Hall Plantation at 7 p.m. Thursday at Richmond Hill Museum.
Elliott Lewis will present a program about the history of Strathy Hall, formerly a rice plantation owned by George W. McAllister in the 1800s. The plantation house is one of the few remaining on Bryan Neck.
Lewis’s passion for local history reinforced by his background in anthropology and geography will make for an interesting program, according to event organizers. He has worked with Fort McAllister, Wormsloe, Fort Pulaski and other local historic sites helping them in their endeavors to showcase their history.
The lecture is free to members of the Richmond Hill Historical Society. For non-members there is a $2 entrance fee. For more information or for directions, call 756-3697.
