The library will start collecting book reviews Aug. 1 for a “Patron Picks” display. Patrons Picks are mini-reviews written by patrons.

Super Saturday Bingo

Try your luck at Super Saturday Bingo on Saturday at Stewart Bingo, adjacent to Club Stewart. Warm-ups begin at 5 p.m. and play at 7.

There will be many games worth $400-$500, but also single coverall $750 and double coverall $1,500. More than $10,000 can be won.

8 for 8 Bowling

Eight for Eight Bowling League is open for kids ages 4-16 on Saturdays, Aug. 3-Sept. 28 at 10 a.m. at Stewart Lanes.

Children bowl two games per week, and at end get a free bowling ball. The cost is $8 per week for 8 weeks and covers shoe rental. Registration ends Aug. 3.

Celebrate National Kids Day with Stewart Bowling Center from 11:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday. Youth (ages 18 and under) get one free game when accompanied by an adult.

Golf Scramble

Roundup some golfers to play in the Hunter Garrison Commander’s Golf Scramble Aug. 9. Registration will close Aug. 7.

Play begins at 1 p.m. The $40 per person entry fee includes greens and cart fees, range balls and light lunch. For more information, call 315-9115.

 

Youth fall sports

Register to be a part of Youth Sports’ football, soccer and cheerleading program. 

Registrations for football (ages 7-12) and cheerleading (ages 6-13) continues until Aug. 9 and is $30 per child.

Soccer (ages 4-13) registration continues until Aug. 16 and costs $30 per child.

Practices begin in August. Play begins in September.

Ladies on the Links 7

A free “Ladies on the Links” clinic, 9-11 a.m. Aug. 10 at Hunter Golf Course, covers all aspects of the game, from rules to putting.

The clinics are informal. Ladies are asked to register by Aug. 9.

Princess Tea

Military-affiliated parents, grandparents or guardians and daughters are invited to a Princess Tea. Create memories with tea, finger foods, games and more from 1-3 p.m. Aug. 10 at Youth Activity Center.

Come dressed in princess attire, fancy dresses, hats and gloves. The cost is $10, and $5 for 10 and younger.

Greens work

Play at Hunter Golf Course will be limited to the front or back nine holes during aerification of the greens Aug. 12 and Aug. 13, weather permitting. For more information, call 315-9115.

 

Pool hours

On and off-post schools open in the next two weeks. So hours at swimming pools on Fort Stewart and Hunter are being changed.

Bryan Village outdoor pool will close for the season on Aug. 5. Effective Aug. 7, Corkan outdoor pool will operate from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays only until the day after Labor Day, when it will close for the season. For more information, call the Corkan pool at 767-8575.

The Hunter outdoor pool changes Aug. 12, after which it will be open Saturdays and Sundays only from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. until it closes for the season the day after Labor Day. For more information, call 315-5786.

 

Girls on the Greens

Learn golf in a comfortable atmosphere during a Girls on the Greens clinic for ladies from 10 a.m.-noon Aug. 17 at Taylors Creek Golf Course. Participants are asked to register by Aug. 16.

Learn the basics of swings, rules, terminology and etiquette.

Waterpark trip

Go with Leisure Travel to the largest family entertainment center in northeast Florida, the Adventure Landing and Shipwreck Island Water Park, on Aug. 17. Registration is open until Aug. 9.

The cost is $55 per person and includes transportation and unlimited access to the water park and three other attractions (go-karts, laser tag arena, miniature golf, roller coaster or other rides) at Jacksonville Beach.

Ten-Miler qualifier

Represent the 3rd ID in the Army Ten-Miler in Washington, D.C., Oct. 20 by placing in the top three (men and women) in a qualifier race on Donovan Field.

Only active duty can qualify, but family members are welcome to run.

The qualifier begins at 5 a.m. Aug. 17. Register from 4-4:45 a.m. at the field or call the Sports Office at 767-8238.
