Some ways to mark the Fourth

Brunswick’s Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 4, in Mary Ross Waterfront Park.
The free event will have watermelon slices, music and old-fashioned games like sack races, water-balloon tossing and hula-hoop contests, Prizes will be awarded to the winners.
Other activities include bounce houses, a paint-ball target booth, peddle cars, a mobile ICU bus  and a fireworks display over the East River. Concessions also will be available.

Cannons Across the Marsh planned
The annual Cannons Across the Marsh will be held 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday, July 4, at Fort King George State Historic Site, 302 McIntosh Road SE in Darien.
Artillery and musket firings will take place throughout the day, and talks on Revolutionary War activities along the Altamaha River will be offered.
Free watermelon and lemonade will be served.  
Also, visitors will have the option to paddle a canoe out into the river in front of the fort, to hear and see the cannon firing demos from the water.
The site’s geo-cache activity, as well as scavenger hunt will be available.
Cost to attend is $7 and $4.
