The Army Soldier Show is on Hunter Thursday and Fort Stewart Sunday.

 

Army Soldier Show

The 2015 U.S. Army Soldier Show, a high-energy, Broadway-style musical production, will be at Tominac Fitness Center on Hunter at 7 p.m. Thursday and Newman Fitness Center on Fort Stewart at 4 p.m. Sunday. Doors open 30 minutes before each show. Admission is free and the public is welcome.

Prior to the Hunter show, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., relax at the U.S. Army Soldier Show Brews and Bites Reception at Hunter Club. Enjoy a generous portion of each of our food offerings, in addition to Budweiser specialty products. A full cash bar also will be available. Brews and Bites tickets are $20 per person. Dinner and bowling

Families can get a discount on dinner and bowling from noon-7 p.m. Monday at Stewart Bowling Center. For $30, your family of five gets two games per person, shoe rental and dinner. For more information, call 767-4273.

 

Schools military registration

Liberty County Schools Military Registration Day will from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday at your child’s school.

To ease military families’ transition into Liberty County schools, the schools will register students, provide information, assign classes and schedules, and answer questions about the 2015-16 school year. Certain forms of identification, proof of residence, report cards/transcripts, and medical forms are required.

Free school supplies

Register at events.operationhomefront.net for school supplies to be given out at upcoming Back to School and Community Activities, Information and Registration Fairs on Stewart and Hunter. Registration will be accepted until all available slots are filled.

The free supplies, provided by Operation Homefront, will be available to children of soldiers E1 - E6.

The fairs will be Tuesday starting at 10 a.m. at Newman Fitness Center on Stewart, and again on July 30 starting at 10 a.m. at Tominac Fitness Center on Hunter. For more information, call 767-6212. 

 

Youth soccer

Registration for youth fall soccer on Hunter runs through July 30. Practices begin in mid-August and games start in late September at Hunter Youth Sports and Savannah YMCA fields. Commanders scramble

Commanders Golf Scramble will start at 1 p.m. July 31 at Taylors Creek Golf Course. Everyone is invited to play in the 4-person team scramble. The $45 buys you tournament play, golf cart, mulligans and lunch. Register by July 29. For more information, call 767-2370.

 

Mega Super Bingo

Mega Super Bingo Saturday, at Stewart and Hunter Bingo, is from 1 p.m.-2 a.m. Aug. 1, and offers an opportunity to win big. Guaranteed $25,000 overall. Minimum buy $100 and Machine Charge $250. Gullah Heritage Dinner Cruise Trip

Princess Tea

A Princess Tea, hosted by the Liberty County Armed Services YMCA in partnership with FMWR, will be Aug. 8 at the Fort Stewart Youth Center. Seatings will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. and from 2:30-4:30 p.m.

A limited number of tickets are on sale at Stewart/Hunter Leisure Travel offices, Stewart Bowling Center and the Y. Cost is $10 for general admission and $5 for youth (10 and younger). For questions, call the YMCA at 368-9622. For tickets, call 767-6212.

 

Golf tournament

Enter the company-level intramural tournament at Taylors Creek Golf Course to see who has best golf team in the 3rd ID. The tournament will be 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 11. Plantation tour

Take a self-guided tour of Middleton Place, a preserved rice plantation on the Ashely River at Charleston, South Carolina, on this Leisure Travel trip Aug. 22. Register by Aug. 14. Bodybuilding contest

“The Rock” Bodybuilding, Physique and Figure Contest will take place Aug. 29 at Woodruff Theater.

The competition recognizes the training that Stewart/Hunter soldiers, families and civilians invest in body building.

Event is open to military ID cardholders (ages 17 and older) and civilians. Entry deadline fees are $25 until Aug. 10, $35 from Aug. 11-29, plus $15 for crossovers.

Each contestant will be judged on muscularity, symmetry, posing without music and with music. First to third-place awards and trophies will be awarded in eight divisions.

Fees for spectators are $5 during pre-judging and $10 for finals. No charge for ages 13 and under. For more information, call 767-3031.
