Spend a relaxing day floating down South Georgia’s scenic Canoochee River.

Life vest, boats and paddles will be provided, just bring your camera and lunch for a picnic on a sandbar.

The trip will be from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. July 20. Register by July 18 at Holbrook Outdoor Recreation Center, 435-8205. The cost is $20 per person.

Lifeguards will be on the trip. A parent or guardian must accompany those younger than 16.

Ladies on Links

Register by July 19 for a free clinic for women July 20 from 9-11 a.m. at Hunter Golf Course.

The informal clinic covers aspects of golf, including rules, etiquette and swing and putting mechanics.

Indoor triathlons

Men and women are invited to compete in Newman Fitness Center’s first Mini Indoor Triathlon July 22-24. Tominac Fitness Center on Hunter will have its triathlon July 22-26.

There’s no charge, and the top contestants will win prizes.

There will be 10 minutes for swimming and running on treadmill, plus 20 minutes on a stationary bike ride. It's open to all military ID cardholders ages 17 and older.

Back-to-School Fair

A Back-to-School Fair, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. July 24 at Club Stewart, is an opportunity to talk to DoDEA, local public, private, post secondary school and home schooling representatives.

There is no charge. On- and off-post child and family agencies will provide information on after-school care. See what Fort Stewart Exchange has to offer in school uniforms and youth fashions.

School registration

Military school age children can register for 2013-14 school year in Liberty County schools on July 25 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

The day is help military families transition into local schools. The schools will also give school and district information, provide class assignments and answer school-related questions.

Documents needed are birth certificate, Social Security card, immunization records, medical screening, proof of residence and previous report card.

Football camp

CYSS-registered youth (ages 7-12) can learn techniques and fundamentals of football during the Dog Days of the Marne Football Camp, 9 a.m.-noon July 25-27.

The camp is free at the Youth Sports Football Field Complex. Registration closes on July 20.

Movie in the Park

Enjoy Disney's "Oz the Great & Powerful," rated PG, at the Movie in the Park July 26 at the Holbrook Pond Recreation Area. The movie is free and begins at 9 p.m.

Open to all military ID cardholders and guest. Snacks and drinks available for purchase. Don’t forget your lawn chairs and blankets.

Golf scramble

A Garrison Commander’s Golf Scramble will begin at 1 p.m. July 26 at Taylors Creek Golf Course. Participants are asked to register by July 24.

Play will be limited to the first 25 four-person teams. The cost is $35 per soldier, retiree, Army civilian and Taylors Creek or Hunter Golf Course member. The price is $45 per civilian guest.

Punt, Pass & Kick

Registration is under way for the NFL Punt, Pass & Kick Competition at 9 a.m. July 27 at the Youth Sports Football Complex on Fort Stewart.

Boys and girls, ages 6-15, participate in all three events for a score and a chance to advance to sectional competition.

Participants may register online at http://www.nflppk.com/ or at Youth Sports and Fitness Center. A birth certificate must be provided at check-in.

Only gym shoes can be worn.

Long shooting

Soldiers, retirees, Army civilians and civilian guests can sight-in large caliber weapons July 27 from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at Red Cloud Range Complex-Echo.

Bring your rifles or muzzle loaders of any caliber. Targets will be at 100 to 1,000 meters.

Race qualifier

Represent the Third Infantry Division in the Army Ten-Miler in Washington, D.C., Oct. 20 by being one of the top finishers in a qualifier at Donovan Field on Fort Stewart.

Only active duty may qualify, but family members are welcome to participate.

The qualifier begins at 5 a.m. on Aug. 17. Runners can register from 4-4:45 a.m. at the field, or by calling the Sports Office, 767-8238.
