The Great FMWR Post-Wide Housing Garage Sale will be from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Fort Stewart and Hunter.

Only residents of post housing are eligible to sell, but everyone is invited to shop, including civilians.

Maps showing sale sites will be posted at www.stewartmwr.com and www.huntermwr.com.

Bridal Expo

The Bridal Event & Expo at Club Stewart, from 1:30-4:30 p.m. April 26, is the place to meet a range of professionals who can help plan a wedding. Preview the hottest trends and learn about hair and beauty, jewelry, limousines and fashion.

The cost of $7 per person in advance and $10 at the door includes hors d’oeuvres buffet. Brides-to-be will get swag bags, and are invited to pre-register by Friday for a drawing for a $500 wedding reception gift certificate. For more information, call 767-4717.

 

Rifle shoot

A Large Caliber Rifle Shoot will be held from 2-6 p.m. May 1 at Small Arms November Range on Fort Stewart. The cost is $5 per two-hour block/person. All weapons must be registered on Fort Stewart. For more information, call 767-4316.

 

Cosmic Bowling

On Fridays and Saturdays, beginning May 1 and continuing until Aug. 22, unlimited bowling is $5 per person from 7 p.m. until closing at Marne Bowling Center. Shoe rental is not included. For more information, call 767-4866.

 

Bistro Thursday

Latin dishes are featured on Bistro Thursday May 7, the first Thursday of the month, from 5-8 p.m. Enjoy a salad bar, two-three appetizer buffet, themed entrée choices and dessert. Bar service is available.

The price is $12.95 for adults and $6.95 for children 10 and under. Children’s menu available on request.

Racquetball tournament

A women and men's single double elimination racquetball tournament will be May 7-9 at 6 p.m. at Newman Fitness Center and the Johnson Fitness Center.

The non-sanctioned competition is free, but participants are asked to register at either center by April 27.

There will be one event per person. First- and second-place medals will be awarded in all divisions.

Foot Golf Scramble

Lt. Col. Will Bowman invites all to play in the first Garrison Commander’s Foot Golf Scramble, which starts at 9 a.m. May 8.

The 18-hole foot golf layout is adjacent to the front nine holes of Hunter Golf Course.

The cost is $25 per person. Rules are similar to regular golf. Indoor or turf shoes permitted, but soccer shoes with cleats not allowed. Register by May 7.

Brews & Bites

Treat your taste buds at the Stewart/Hunter 75thAnniversary Brews & Bites, starting at 5 p.m. May 15 at Hunter Club.

Chat with a Service Brewing Co. sommelier as you taste brews produced by the Savannah brewery. Chefs will prepare hors d’oeuvres to pair with each beer at four sampling stations.

Buy advance tickets, at $25 per person until May 12 at Club Stewart or Hunter Club. Tickets are $30 per person after May 12. The event can accommodate 100 persons. The public is welcome.

Explore Macon

Visit Macon with Leisure Travel June 13 and explore the city’s Native American and Indian heritage, the Tubman Museum and learn about Georgia’s famous athletes. Registration closes May 1. Cherokee, N.C. weekend

Visit an Indian village, see their arts and crafts, native dancing and tour a museum while learning about the Trail of Tears during this weekend trip to Cherokee, N.C., June 12-14.

Other activities will include a night at Harrah’s Casino and a tour of the Biltmore Estate in Asheville on Sunday. The cost is $600 for up to four people per room. Fee includes transportation and two nights at the Cherokee Grand Hotel. Biltmore tour is an additional cost.

Mother's Day brunch

Make the day special for mom by taking her to the Mother’s Day Brunch 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. May 10 at Club Stewart.

Advance tickets, available at the club, are $14.95 for adults and $6.95 kids 10, and under. Advance prices end May 7. Prices at the door are $17.95 for adults and $7.95 for kids. Children ages 0-2 are free.

Armed Forces Kids Run

Non-competitive runs, as part of Armed Forces Day, start at 9 a.m. May 16 at Jordan Fitness Center on Stewart and at Stephen Douglas Street and North Perimeter Road on Hunter.

Youth, 5-13, are invited to run.

Ages 5-6 will run five-tenths of a mile, ages 7-8 one mile, and ages 9-13 two miles. There’s no charge and T-shirts will be awarded to all runners. Parents may run with children.
