Post sets Super Hero 5K in September

The Super Hero 5K Fun Run Sept. 17 will include a costume contest.

Form a four-person team or join one for the Commanders Golf Scramble Friday at Taylors Creek Golf Course. Shotgun start at 1 p.m. All are welcome. The $45 per person entry includes green fees, golf cart, range balls, mulligans and prizes. For more information, call 912-767-2370.

 

Bodybuilding competition

The Rock Bodybuilding, Physique and Figure Competition is Saturday at Woodruff Theater. Competitors must be at least 17. Registration/weigh-in is 8-9 a.m. pre-judging 10 and finals at 6 p.m. Awards presented to top three winners in each division. Cost is $45 per contestant. Crossover fee is $15 additional. Dinner and bowling

Families are invited to a dinner and bowling special from 2-7 p.m. Aug. 29 at Stewart Bowling Center. For $30, a family of five gets two games per person, shoe rental and dinner (homemade lasagna, side salad, roll and a drink). For more information, call 912-767-4273.

 

Youth football, cheerleading

Registration is underway at Parent Central Services, 912-767-2312, for the upcoming tackle football league (ages 7-12) and cheer squad (ages 6-13) seasons. Bowling leagues

Whether you are an avid bowler or beginner, Marne Bowling Center has a league for you. Leagues are forming. Play begins the second week of September and continues until April. League include Senior Mixed Classic, Tuesday Night Scratch Trio, Friends Hi/Lo, Wednesday Night Mixed, Thursday Morning Coffee, Millers Friday Night Mixed and Youth—All Ages. Flag football

Team rosters are being accepted for Stewart/Hunter Intramural Flag Football for soldiers. Team rosters should be turned into the Stewart Sports Complex or Squires Sports Complex by Friday. Big Game bingo

The Big Game at Stewart Bingo, adjacent to Club Stewart, and Hunter Bingo, next to Hunter Club, on Sept. 3 gives players a chance to win $32,000 in prizes. Event features nine $1,800 games, $13,000 coverall. Lightning rounds from 1-4 p.m. The main event begins at 7. Take advantage of earlybird VIP prices through Aug. 29. Computer packs available. Fitness center hours

The weekend hours for Stewart/Hunter fitness centers are being change to accommodate people who work out early. During the first weekend of September, Caro Fitness Center will be closed Sundays beginning Sept. 4. Caro’s hours on Saturdays (9 a.m.-5 p.m.) will remain the same. Effective Sept. 3, Newman Fitness Center will be open Saturdays 8 a.m-9 p.m. and Sundays 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Johnson Fitness Center will be open Saturdays 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Tominac Fitness Center will be open Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

 

Hunter ribbon cutting

MWR’s Outdoor Recreation at Hunter has a new home at 311 Stratofortress Road, and will have a ribbon cutting and open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 8. There will be cake, hot dogs, lawn games, music and giveaways. Recreational equipment available for rent will be on display. For more information, call 912-315-9554.   

 

Freedom on the Fairways

The Freedom on the Fairways Golf Scramble, in honor of first responders and all who help keep America safe, will start at 2 p.m. Sept. 9 at Hunter Golf Course. The 4-person scramble is open to all. Honoring Our Heroes

The Honoring Our Heroes Golf Tourney, a tribute to first responders and others who join 3ID in keeping America safe, will be on Sept. 10 at Taylors Creek Golf Course. The four-person scramble begins at 9 a.m. Everyone is welcome. The cost is $20 per person, which includes green fees and golf cart, range balls, course contest, hole prizes, food and beverages. College night

Military Families College Night, covering various aspects of college application and preparation, will be from 6-9 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Education Center.

This is a first for CYSS and includes segments on the GI Bill, federal student aid, college admission and scholarship essay-writing, as well as local and national scholarship opportunities for military students.

Experts will provide information to help Military kids navigate the college application and planning process.

Super Hero 5K

Dress up like your favorite superhero and you might win a prize at the Super Hero 5K Fun Run on Sept. 17 at Newman Fitness Center Field. It starts at 8 a.m. The best adult and youth costumes will win prizes.

It’s a morning of fun for everyone. There’ll be bounce houses/inflatables for the kids, food vendors and music.

Register until Aug. 31 at $25 for adults and $15 for kids under 10. Register from Sept. 1-11 for $30 and $17. Run day registration is $40 and $20. Register at Stewart/Hunter Leisure Travel or by visiting StewartHunterMWR.com.
