Paintball tourney on Stewart Saturday

Love Paintball? Play at 10 a.m. Saturday with fellow soldiers and those who have a passion for the sport.

Register at the site on Saturday at Holbrook Outdoor Recreation Area off Highway 144, or by calling 912-767-9917 or 912-271-5136.

Players may use their own equipment or equipment provided by Outdoor Rec. Paint will be supplied.

Cost is $10 per BOSS soldier and extra fee for other players. That includes lunch. For more information, call 912-767-4316.

 

Child care requests

Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield parents requesting all types of child care now must do so online through MilitaryChildCare.com, a Department of Defense program. The change became effective June 8.

Requests for full time, before/after school, FCC, summer camp for school age children (or any holiday camps) are affected by the change. 

Stewart/Hunter Parent Central Services, which previously handled child care arrangements, can assist with online enrolling and with other child care questions. Phone numbers are 912-767-2312 on Stewart and 912-315-5425 on Hunter.

The move to MilitaryChildCare.com does not affect youth sports.

Golf clinic

Learn the basics of golf, or brush up on your game during a Taylors Creek Golf Course Monthly Golf Clinics. The first, taught by PGA player John Fesperman, will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday. The cost of $10 per person includes range balls. A limited number of clubs will be provided, if needed. Each clinic is limited to six participants. The next two will be on July 14 and Aug.11. Golf scramble

Form a team or join the Hunter Garrison Commander’s Golf Scramble at Hunter Golf Course on Friday. You and your fellow players will have a chance at a prize on every hole, including pro shop items and gift cards to local restaurants and stores.

The four-person scramble will have a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The $35 per person cost includes green fees, golf cart, range balls, light lunch and prizes. $5 mulligan available.

Get Golf Ready

Register by Friday for Get Golf Ready, taught by PGA player Tommie McArthur, from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday at Hunter Golf Course. Open to both men and women, beginners and novices. Learn the mechanics, putting, short game, approach shots, rules and etiquette. The cost of $40 per person includes instruction and a one-month membership. For more information, call 912-315-9115.

 

Saturday Scramble

Taylors Creek Golf Course launches monthly Saturday Scrambles on Saturday. The $35 per person cost includes cart fee, green fees, range balls, prizes and course contest. Registration begins at 8 a.m. Shotgun start at 9 a.m. Additional scrambles will be on July 9, Aug. 6, Sept. 17, Oct. 22, Nov. 5 and Dec. 10. For more information, call 912-767-2370.

 

Commander’s scramble

All may play in the upcoming Commanding General’s Golf Scramble at Taylors Creek Golf Course on June 17. You and your fellow players will have a chance to win a prize on every hole, to include pro shop items and gift cards to restaurants and stores.

BOSS Movie Nights

Sign-up begins first day of every month for nights at the movie in Pooler. The BOSS Program provides transportation and 20 free movie tickets to one showing a month (through August) for Stewart/Hunter soldiers at the Royal Cinemas. Showing on June 17, "Finding Dory/World of Warcraft.”

“Minions” under the stars

“Minions,” PG, is next film in the Holbrook Pond Movies Under the Stars series. It will be shown June 24 and lasts 102 minutes.

The movies are free and begin at sunset. Popcorn and drinks will be available for sale. Movie-goers should bring their own chairs or blankets.

• July 22: “Cinderella,” rated PG-13 (91 minutes).

• Aug. 20: “Inside Out,” rated PG, (112 minutes).

• Sept. 17: “Jurassic World,” rate PG-13, (124 minutes).

Bass tournaments

Bidd Sands Lake, a part of the Evans County Public Fishing Area, is the site for the fourth of five catch-and-release Marne Trail Bass Tournaments. On June 25, participants can meet at 5:15 a.m. and fishing begins at 5:30 a.m.

The fee is $20 for active duty, DOD cardholders, retirees and youth; $30 for civilians. There is a boat fee of $5. Participants must have a Georgia outdoor recreation pass, which costs $3.50 and is good for three days, or a wildlife management area endorsement on their Georgia fishing/hunting license.

Register at Stewart/Hunter Pass and Permit offices. Cash prizes are $250 for first-place (total weight, five-fish maximum per person) and $100 for the largest bass. Door prizes awarded after weigh-in at 11 a.m.
