Paintball tourney on post Saturday
Weekly FMWR briefing for June 11-16

A Paintball (woodsball) Team Tactical Scenario Tournament will be from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the Holbrook Recreation Area.

Register now or Satuday at Holbrook Recreation Center's paintball facility or FMWR Outdoor Recreation Office in building 443. 

The cost is $100 per 5-8 player team. Payment is due at registration.

First place wins $250, second place $150. Winners will be determined by completion of scenario and points. All DoD ID cardholders and guest may enter.

Players may use their own equipment, but paint will be supplied. A minimum of 10 teams must compete. The maximum number of teams will be 25.

Skeet shoot

Hunter’s Skeet and Trap Quarterly Shoot will be from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the skeet range off South Perimeter Road.

Register by Thursday at the range or at Outdoor Recreation Center. The cost will be $25 for one shoot or $40 for both.

Food will be provided. First- and second-place prizes will be awarded in novice, intermediate, expert and trap divisions. The event is sponsored by Mossy Oak Gun Club. For more information, call 315-9554/9354/9250.

 

Father’s Day brunch

Treat Dad to the Father’s Day Brunch from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday at Club Stewart.

A surf ‘n turf station will serve filet medallions and shrimp kabobs. Blackened tilapia and barbecue smoked chicken, plus classic Southern breakfast items and an omelet bar, also are on the menu. Cocktail will be Beam ’n lemonade.

Adult prices are $17.95 and children $7.45. Children 4 and under are free.

Junior golf camps

Junior Golf Camps for youth ages 7-15 of all skill levels, have been scheduled at Fort Stewart and Hunter courses.

Putting mechanics, approach shots, course rules, and etiquette will be among the topics covered. The cost for each is $75 per golfer.

The camp at Hunter will be from 10 a.m.-noon Monday and Tuesday. Space is limited, and youth are asked to sign up by Friday.

Taylors Creek Golf Course's camp is from 10 a.m.-noon on June 24 and 25.

Juniors are encouraged to bring their own equipment. However, clubs will be provided for those who do not have their own.

Movie in the park

Kick off summer on its first day at 9 p.m. June 21 with a free movie, “The Avengers,” rated PG13.

The showing at Holbrook Pond Recreation Area is open to all military ID cardholders. Snacks and drinks will be available. Don’t forget your lawn chairs and blankets.

Basketball clinic

Get your game on! Fort Stewart Youth Sports will offer a free Summer Basketball Clinic for CYSS- registered youth, ages 5 -17.

The clinic will be at the Youth Sports and Fitness Center June 24-28 from 9 a.m.-noon. Sign up at the center.

Girls on the Greens

Girls on the Greens free clinic from 10 a.m.-noon June 29 at Taylors Creek Golf Course is for women. Learn swing and putting mechanics, as wells as some of the rules and club regulations.

Clydesdales on Stewart

Enjoy the Clydesdales’ Military Appreciation Tour by Anheuser-Bush and its sponsors from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. June 27 at 6th Street and Newman Field. Enjoy There will be a hitching demonstration and parade of the horses. There will also be kids and tailgate games, samplings from vendors and more.

Open to all military ID cardholders, it's free.

The Clydesdales and other events of the tour will be on Hunter from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. June 28 in the parking lot across from Tominac Fitness Center.

Golf scramble

Col. Kevin Gregory invites players to his golf scramble at 1 p.m. June 28 at Taylors Creek Golf Course. Teams are asked to register by June 26.

Play will be limited to the first 25 four-person teams. The cost is $35 per soldier, retiree, Army civilian and Taylors Creek or Hunter Golf Course member; $45 per civilian guest.

Dance recital

Come out to enjoy the “Seasons in the Sun” dance recital presented by SKIES Unlimited June 28 at 6 p.m. in Woodruff Theater. There is no charge.

Wild Adventures trip

Wild Adventures in Valdosta is a theme park, water park and animal park. It features rides for all ages, hundreds of animals, seasonal shows and concerts.

Taylors Creek and Hunter golf courses are offering a computerized handicap service. The fee is $20 through next February.

The service is provided without additional charge for annual members.

The computer-calculated handicaps are not valid for United States Golf Association or Georgia State Golf Association events.
