The United States Marine Band, "The President’s Own," will perform at Armstrong State University, in Savannah on Oct. 8.

The ensemble was formed in 1798 under an act of Congress and was named "The President’s Own" by Thomas Jefferson. "The band has been under the leadership of numerous noteworthy directors, including John Philip Sousa, the writer of "Stars and Stripes Forever."

The concert, which will feature classics as well as contemporary songs and military tunes, is free. But you have to have a ticket to get into Armstrong’s Fine Arts Auditorium. To get tickets, log on to www.armstrong.edu/news-events/tickets.
