Garden club to hold rain barrel workshop

The Richmond Hill Garden Club is sponsoring the “Build Your Own Rain Barrel” Workshop from 10 a.m.-noon June 6 at J.F. Gregory Park.

Rain barrels collect rain water for watering gardens, washing cars and other projects and can save homeowners hundreds of gallons of water each year.

At the workshop, rain-barrel installation, maintenance and safety will be discussed, along with instructions for the conversion kit which includes all parts needed for installation. Staff will be on hand with the supplies and tools necessary to assemble the barrels on-site. The conversion kit uses a diverter system which eliminates the need for cutting off gutter downspouts, mosquitoes and over-flow valves.

The registration fee is $30. Registration will be on a first-come basis and the workshop will be capped at 24 people. Register online at www.surveymonkey.com/s/RegistrationRainBarrelWorkshopRHGardenClub
