Fishing derby set for Sat.

Local children can try to reel in the big one at the Richmond Hill Exchange Club’s 25th annual Kids Fishing Derby form 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Richmond Hill Fish Hatchery on Highway 144.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m., with fishing starting at 8:30. The derby is free of charge and open to children ages 15 and younger, accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.
The ponds have been stocked with catfish for the fishing derby. Participants should bring fishing poles equipped and ready to fish, as well as bait, although a limited amount of bait and fishing poles will be available for use free of charge.
Entry forms can be downloaded from www.rhxc.org/fishing.htm. Parents/guardians should complete an official entry form for each child and bring it to the fishing derby.
Award presentations will follow the derby at noon. Trophies will be presented in several categories, including most total pounds (limit of 10 fish) and heaviest fish, for age groups 6-and-younger and 7-to-12. The winners and their families also will receive a special prize of a family bass-fishing outing to the Waterways Township and its bass lake.
All children will be eligible for door prizes to be given away during the derby. Also, hot dogs and drinks will be available at no charge for participants.
