Jazz in the Park, the outdoor concert series by the sea that brings local musicians to St. Simons Island for six evenings of music, will kick off the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend.
The first concert, which is from 7-9 p.m. May 29, features perennial local favorite Phil Morrison, appearing this year with his World Unity Jazz Ensemble, a blend of East and West that brings a taste of other lands to America’s unique musical form.
The first concert only will take place in Neptune Park on St. Simons, between the lighthouse and the pier on the ocean side of the Casino Building. All other concerts will take place on the grounds of the lighthouse, as they have in past years.
Concertgoers are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs picnic suppers.
Admission to Jazz in the Park, payable at the gate the night of each show, is $10 for adults. Children ages 6-12 are $5, and anyone younger than 6 gets in for free.
Season fans are urged to get their full pass to all six shows for only $40, a $20 savings. Passes now are available for purchase online at goldenislesarts.org or by calling (912) 262-6934.
