Paula Deen tour

Register by Friday for a Paula Deen Tour in Savannah. Hear her rags-to-riches story on this Leisure Travel trip March 2 at 3:30 p.m.

Tour includes a narrated trip through Savannah’s Historic and Victorian Districts and dinner at the Lady & Sons.

Daytona 500

Register by Friday for a Leisure Travel trip to see the Daytona 500. The 55thrunning of NASCAR’s biggest and most prestigious event will be on Feb. 24.

Cost is $85 per person and includes transportation on a motor coach and tailgate parties before and after the race. Race tickets are sold separately.

Sweetheart Horseback Ride

Enjoy a guide-led horseback trail ride Sunday in the Holbrook Pond Recreation Area. Sponsored by Bits and Bridle Riding Club, the rides leave at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in Training Area A-16 off Highway 144 East.

Riders can bring horses onto post. Rides are limited to 20 riders. The cost is $10 per person.

Facebook Education Forum

The first DoDEA/Liberty County Schools Facebook Education Forum is scheduled for 5-6 p.m. Feb. 21. School representatives will answer questions. Fort Stewart CYSS/School Liaison Office invites all interested parties. More details will be announced. For information, call 767-6533.

 

Cardboard Boat Regatta

The Cardboard Boat Regatta at Hunter is scheduled for 10 a.m. Feb. 23 at Tominac Fitness Center’s indoor pool.

Races, using only cardboard and duct tape, build a boat that will make it the length of the pool with a two-person crew.

There will be trophies for the best looking boat, the team with best time and a Titanic award for the boat that sinks the fastest. There are three categories: Children (ages 16 and older), Family (an adult and child, 16 or younger) and Open (crew older than 16). It is free.

Teams are asked to register by Feb. 22 at center, but entries will be accepted until the race. For information, call 315-5078.

 

Skeet and trap shoot

Skeet and trap enthusiasts have two shoots this month at the Fort Stewart Skeet and Trap Range in the Holbrook Pond Recreation Area.

Register at Pass and Permit at Holbrook Pond Rental Office for at the White Bird Shoot and Marne Muster. It begins at 5 p.m. Feb. 21. Shoot white birds ($8 per 25 birds) for a chance to win cash.

Two days later, Feb. 23, beginning at 9 a.m., the Stewart range will be the site for a 50 Bird Shoot. Divisions are expert, novice, youth and ladies, and open trap.

The cost of $25 per person (50 birds skeet or trap) or $40 fee (100 birds skeet/trap), includes lunch.

Cash prizes will be based on number of entries.

Registrations will also be accepted at Hunter Pass and Permit or Equipment Rental.

BOSS camping

Register by March 1 for a BOSS camping trip to Coffee County State Park on March 8-10. Enjoy camping, fishing, hiking and swimming. The cost is $15 per person.
