Christmas tree lightings next week

Get into the holiday spirit while making birdies and pars during the garrison commander Col. Kevin Gregory’s Jingle Bells Scramble Dec. 14 at Taylors Creek Golf Course on Fort Stewart.

Registration continues until Dec. 12. Play is limited to the first 25 four-person teams. The cost is $35 per soldier, retiree, Army civilian and Taylors Creek or Hunter Club member. It is $45 for guests.

Christmas Ham Bowl

Anytime lanes are available Dec. 1-18, bowlers at Hunter Lanes can win a ham. Bowl for $3 per person, per game.

Anti-bullying workshop

Learn ways to spot bullying and how to deal with the issue if your children are victims or aggressors. Be an advocate to stop bullying by attending a free anti-bullying workshop from 5:30-7 p.m. Dec. 4 at the SKIES Instructional Center, across from Diamond Elem.

Tree lighting ceremonies

Christmas trees outside Club Stewart and Hunter Club, decorated from top to bottom, will come to life during lighting ceremonies Dec. 6 and 11.

Santa Claus will join in festivities and be available for photos with kids. Parents and others are reminded to bring cameras.

Club Stewart's will begin at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 6. Hunter Club's will start at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 11.

Third Infantry Division Band will play at both events. Liberty County High School’s choir will perform at Stewart and Pulaski Elementary School’s choir will perform at Hunter.

Trees for Troops

The Christmas Spirit Foundation, FedEx and area growers again are joining FMWR to make the holidays merrier for soldiers and their families by giving them Christmas trees.

Last year, about 900 trees were distributed free on a first-come basis on Fort Stewart and Hunter. This year, the trees will be distributed at 9 a.m. Dec. 8 at Newman Fitness Center on Stewart and Hunter Club at Hunter.

International Children’s Day

Golf 4 Life

Golf 4 Life clinics at Hunter Golf Club are scheduled from 9-10 a.m. on Dec. 15, Jan. 12 and Feb. 9. All free.

Brunch with Santa

Old St. Nick himself will be the guest at a Brunch with Santa at the Club Stewart Ballroom and Thunder Run from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Dec. 16. 

Retirees and civilians are invited.

Stations will serve a full omelette bar and carved bourbon glazed ham. The buffet will feature Southern breakfast items, beef Wellington, English cut cod and chef’s selections of side dishes.

Advance ticket cost $14.95 for adults and $6.45 for children. Tickets at the door will be $17.95 for adults and $7.45 for children. Children 4 and under eat free.

Be there when the Boston Celtics play the Hawks in Atlanta Jan. 5.

Photo contest extended

The entry deadline for the 2012 Wildlife Photo Contest for amateur photographers has been extended.

Entries must be turned in to a Pass and Permit Office on Stewart or Hunter by Dec. 31. Entry fees are $5 per photo for you age 4-15 and $10 per photo for adults, 16 and older.
