The Salute to Service Tour, presented by USAA, will be in the Fort Stewart Exchange parking lot Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. They'll have the Vince Lombardi Trophy and you'll get the chance to win tickets to Super Bowl 50. There will also be an interactive quarterback competition and more.

 

Bowling turkey shoot

Bowl two consecutive strikes at Marne Bowling Center through Nov. 25 and you’ll win a frozen turkey. The cost is $1 per person. Strikes must be witnessed by a staff member. Participants cannot win more than two turkeys. For more information, call 767-4866.

 

Turkey Trot

Looking for family fun, and a chance to win a turkey?

The Turkey Trot Fun Run, walking or running 5K or 1.5 mile, is a non-competitive event that fits the bill. It gets under way at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hunter Army Airfield and follows Perimeter Road.

There is no charge. Every runner and walker will be eligible for an 11:30 a.m. drawing for turkey gift certificates.

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. on that day at Stephen Douglas Street and North Perimeter Road.

Long Range Turkey Shoot

Test your shooting skills and you might take home a turkey from the Long Range Turkey Shoot Nov. 14.

The shoot will be concurrent with the Long Range Shooting that day from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Red Cloud Echo Range at Stewart. Cost for the Long Range Shoot is $15. Cost for the Turkey Shoot is $3 per try.

This rifles-only event is open to all registered Stewart/Hunter weapon owners. All caliber rifles permitted. In the Turkey Shoot, contestants will shoot at a paper target from 300 yards, and the one closest to the center wins in each round until all the turkeys are gone.

Golf specials

There have been renovations at Hunter Golf Course – re-grassing, bunker repairs, air circulation and sunlight improvements – and you’re invited to fall in love again with the course. Thunder Run changes

Beginning Dec. 1, Thunder Run at Club Stewart will be closed at lunch on Mondays. Hours Tuesday through Friday will continue to be 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. For more information, call 767-4717.

 

Disc golf

A nine-hole disc golf course has been laid out on the grounds of Newman Fitness Center at Fort Stewart. Players can choose between layouts of 3,178 yards (par 30) and 2,542 yards (par 28). There’s no charge. Check out equipment at the Newman front desk or bring your own. For more information, call 767-3031.

 

Managed hunt

Soldiers and retirees can register for Outdoor Recreation’s final managed deer/hog hunt this year at Fort Stewart.

The hunt, in the Bravo Area, will be held Dec. 19. Sign up at the Stewart or Hunter Pass and Permit offices before the selection drawing on Dec. 8.  

There are 45 slots for soldiers and five for retirees. A $25 fee per hunter is payable upon selection.

Gridiron Challenge

Fill out a game sheet with your NFL picks and it in before noon Fridays, and you could leave the Gridiron Challenge that evening with a $100 gift card. Game sheets available at all Stewart fitness centers, Marne and Stewart bowling centers, and Club Stewart.

You must be present at the Gridiron Challenge, Fridays starting at 6 p.m. in Thunder Run at Club Stewart, to win and to have a chance to win the grand prize of $400 cash after week 17. There’s no admission charge, but you must be 18 to play and 21 or older to drink. For more information, call 767-4717.

 

Skeet, trap shoot

A 50-Bird Skeet Trap and Five Stand Shoot will be from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Hunter Skeet/Trap Range. Sign up by Nov. 19 at the range. The cost is $25 for one event, $40 for two and $50 for all three. For more information, call 912-315-9554/9354/9250.

 

Disney trip
