SAVANNAH — Each year, a group of local master gardeners spends the cold days of winter and early spring growing a variety of plants in the greenhouse at Bamboo Farm and Coastal Gardens, preparing for the annual spring plant sale. This year’s sale is from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, April 3, and will include native perennials such as boltonia, pink muhly grass, little bluestem, purple coneflower, phlox and white-flowered Joe Pye weed.
The gardeners have propagated 20 varieties of coleus and a range of good butterfly-attracting shrubs and perennials such as butterfly bush, Mexican bush sage, parsley, butterfly weed, basil, thyme, chives, garlic chives and dwarf rosemary herbs for cooking.
The sale will be in the Bamboo Farm greenhouse, and master gardeners will be on hand to help shoppers make selections. All proceeds will support programs at Bamboo Farm.
