Annual green fees can save money

Golfers can save money by paying annual greens fees at Taylors Creek Golf Course or Hunter Golf Club. One fee covers both courses. Plus, you get coupons worth more than $200 in savings.

Civilians are welcome to participate. The annual fees cover March 1-Feb. 28, 2014.

Harlem Globetrotters

Register by March 11 for a Leisure Travel trip to see the Globetrotters "You Write the Rules" tour in Savannah.

Leave Fort Stewart at 5:30 p.m. March 14 for the Savannah Civic Center. Game time is 7 p.m.

Experience an assortment of trick shots and an array of comedy for the young and young at heart.

Discover what the communities surrounding Fort Stewart and Hunter offer. Plus, learn about travel opportunities. The 2013 Community Showcase & Travel Show provides a one-stop opportunity to gather information for the family.

The free shows will be at Hunter Club from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. March 12, and again the following day from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at Club Stewart.

Learn about recreation that the coastal area and beyond have to offer. Get information about hotels, festivals, concerts, schools and more from representatives.

Hunter education forum

Parents, FRG leaders and educators will talk about issues and solutions relevant to military-connected students during a Hunter Education Forum from 5:30-7 p.m. March 14 at Pulaski Elementary School.

The forum will discuss specialty programs (STEM Academy), middle school rezoning and new charter schools in Savannah.

GC’s Golf Scramble

The Fort Stewart Garrison Commander's 4-person Golf Scramble will begin at 1 p.m. March 22 at Taylors Creek Golf Course. Register your team by March 20.

Col. Kevin F. Gregory invites active duty, retirees, and Army civilians, and play.

Play will be limited to the first 25 four-person teams. The cost is $35 per soldier, retiree, Army civilian, and Taylors Creek or Hunter Club member; and $45 per civilian guest.

Bass tournament

Here’s a chance to toss out a line for bass and maybe take home up to $100.

The Canoochee River Bass Tournament will be from 6:30 a.m.-noon March 23. The catch-and-release, five-fish limit tourney will be at Training Area Charlie 18, Landing 1B on Stewart. Every registered participant will get a T-shirt.

Tournament is open to fishing pass and permit holders only and will be limited to the first 25 boats registered.

Registration through March 15 is $20 for military ID cardholders and $35 for civilians. Registration March 16-22 is $25 for cardholders and $40 for civilians. Late registration, March 23, 5:30-7 a.m., is $30 for cardholders and $45 for civilians.

Easter egg hunts

March 23 will be special for Stewart/Hunter kids and parents.

That’s when Stewart and Hunter will have annual Easter egg hunts and Family Fun Days. The events will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. The Stewart event will be at the CYSS Sports Field. Hunter's will be at Squires Sports Complex.

There’s no charge. The fun will include prizes hidden in eggs, face-painting, games and inflatables.

Easter brunch

Bring your family and friends to Club Stewart for the Easter brunch from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. March 31.

The menu features omelet bar and breakfast items, plus a carving station with favorites. Advance tickets  earn $3 off for adults and $1 for kids and are available at club information counters. Prices at door are $17.95 for adults and $7.45 for children (ages 5-10). Children ages 4 and under eat free.

Children’s Storytime

Military Child Education Coalition staffers present a program for children up to age 12 every Tuesday during March at 9:30 a.m. at George P. Hays Library. Kids hear stories and enjoy crafts. There’s no charge. For more information, call 767-2828.

 

Ladies on the Link 4

Ladies, here’s an opportunity to try golf or sharpen your golfing skills. And, there is no charge.

Ladies on the Link 4 clinics will be from 9-10:30 a.m. on March 16 and March 30 at Hunter Golf Club. Register by March 15.

Day 1 will focus on putting mechanics, the short game and rules. Day 2 will take up swing mechanics, plus rules and the history of golf.
