Former vice president, Nobel Peace Prize recipient and bestselling author Al Gore will speak at the 2013 Savannah Book Festival at 10:15 a.m. Feb. 16 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Telfair Square.

His upcoming book, “The Future,” which will be available Jan. 29, will be the focus of his 40-minute talk and 20-minute Q-and-A session. The event will be free to the general public. Seating will be limited, and no photos or recording are permitted.

In “The Future,” Gore identifies the critical drivers of global change with a frank assessment of the emerging forces that are reshaping our world. The drivers include economic globalization leading to the emergence of “Earth Inc.,” a new relationship to capital, labor, consumer markets and national governments; worldwide digital communications, Internet and computer revolutions leading to the emergence of “The Global Mind;” a profound shift in the balance of global political, economic and military power; a flawed economic compass leading to unsustainable growth; genomic, biotechnology, neuroscience and life sciences revolutions; and the disruption of the relationship between human beings and the earth’s ecosystems.

Gore will sign all purchased copies of the book, with a limit of four per person. For more information, call 912-598-4040, email info@savannahbookfestival.org or go to www.savannahbookfestival.org.
