In an effort to raise money for Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society, students and faculty members at Lanier Primary School recently participated in the Coins for a Cure event.
Nine faculty members volunteered to have their faces placed on a jar, which was displayed daily for students to place money in. The person with the most money earned at the end of the event would have to kiss a pig.
Students raised $1,083.00 in three weeks. LPS kindergarten teacher Susan Heape won the contest and had to pucker up to the pig.
Faculty and staff who participated in the fundraiser included Sunshine Byrd, Brittany Moore, Susan Heape, principal Jeff Hodges, Tommy Ivey, Ashley Johnson, Beverly Morris, Samantha Martin and Courtney Fitzgerald.
