SAVANNAH — Ogeechee Riverkeeper has introduced a needs-based volunteer program and is soliciting people interested in helping to preserve waterways.
The 11-year-old nonprofit, which protects the Ogeechee, Canoochee and coastal rivers, is appealing for members to apply forprojects that draw on a range of talents.
Needed positions range from office assistant to paddle-trip guides. All are open to current members.
Membership starts at $35 for individuals.

Most of the volunteer work requires flexible hours rather than a schedule. Volunteers in specific categories will be added to email lists and contacted when opportunities are available.
Applications are accepted through the website, and applicants will be contacted to arrange interviews.
