A Richmond Hill teenager has been awarded a scholarship from a prestigious dance studio.

Brooklynn Parfitt, 13, of Kelly and Company Dance Studio, received the scholarship from the Millennium Dance Complex of Los Angeles.

The scholarship will give Brooklynn seven days of high-intensity instruction, choreography and dance at the Millennium Dance Complex, an internationally known studio where Britney Spears, Madonna, Pink, Alicia Keys and others rehearse for videos and concert performances.

Parfitt was selected based on her work ethic, ability to learn and attitude toward her craft, according to Millennium’s award-winning choreographers Jesselee Santos and Christopher Aldeger, who presented the award.

Parfitt recently earned High Gold for her solo hip-hop performance at the recent JUMP competition in Atlanta.

Along with hip-hop, Parfitt also is taking ballet from Master Instructor Shannon Kelly.

Kelly and Company Dance Studio regularly ranks at the top in local and regional competitions.

Students range in age from 5 and up, teaching male and female dancers from the greater Savannah area in ballet, contemporary, hip-hop, jazz and tap.
