The city of Richmond Hill is holding its first Christmas-decoration contest.
The decorations must be in a residential yard located within the city limits of Richmond Hill, and entries must be called into city hall by Dec. 12. Yards will be judged on the evening of Dec. 15, and winners will be announced at the city-council meeting Dec. 16.
Categories include: 1) best use of lights; 2) most original; 3) most elegant; and 4) the “Griswald Award” (most lights and decorations in one yard). Winners each will receive a gift certificate to a local business or restaurant and a small yard sign announcing their win.
