Pembroke trying to help family who lost home

Pembroke City Councilwoman Tiffany McCoy Walraven is helping organize a relief for the Richardson family, who lost the their home to Hurricane Matthew.

This family has two small children, who attend school here in Bryan County.

An account has been set up at Owens Supply Company as the “Richardson Building Recovery Fund.”

Walraven said a tree fell on the Richardsons’ home, ruining it.

“They have no homeowners insurance to cover the major loss,” the councilwoman wrote in an email. “We have been approached by a few community members asking us to set up this account to pay for materials to repair this home.”

Any excess funds will help pay for labor and helping the family back on their feet.

“Join us as we embrace this family in God’s love,” Walraven wrote. “If you would like to add funds, whether it be $1 or $100, just contact us and request to add funds to this special account.”
