Members of the Richmond Hill Garden Club recently planted native plants at the Duval Henderson Park south of Richmond Hill. The garden club maintains a butterfly garden along with several bluebird houses at the park.
Last year the club installed five concrete benches in the area of the butterfly garden so visitors can observe the birds and butterflies. Several of the blue bird houses are already occupied.
The garden club also plants and maintains the landscape at the Richmond Hill Public Library and the Bryan County Rehabilitation Center.
Since 1955 the Richmond Hill Garden Club has been an active participant in efforts to beautify the community, to foster a love of gardening and to provide a social outlet for club members.
Through guest speakers, field trips, projects and social events, the club is a source of both fellowship and community service in South Bryan County. Membership is open to anyone who wants to interact with others who share a common interest.
