Cub Scout Pack 400 of Richmond Hill celebrated the annual Blue and Gold Banquet Feb. 23 at the First Baptist Church of Richmond Hill.
More than 150 Scouts and their families attended the event, which celebrated the birthday of Lord Baden Powel, the founder of Scouting.  Birthday cake and ice cream were served in his honor.
The theme was space, in honor of the recent Pack trip to NASA. The scouts and their families experienced a demonstration by the Georgia Southern Science center.
The pack awarded the Arrow of Light to seven Scouts:  Joe Belfield, Andrew Carlson, Douglas (DJ) Gill, Matthew Haynes, Elijah Kinley, Thomas Stewart and Garrett Stigall. The Arrow of Light is the highest award a Cub Scout can earn, and they will be able to wear the badge as they transition in Boy Scouts.  Additionally, Bryan Vega earned the Webelos badge. These boys will cross over to Boy Scout Troop 400 on Thursday.
Scouts — some with parents’ help — baked cakes, each with the theme of space or Scouting, that were auctioned off. Many neighboring businesses generously donated prizes that were awarded to the best cakes. Proceeds from the auction were donated to Friends of Scouting, an arm of the Boy Scouts of America that helps support Coastal Empire Council events and the regional Black Creek Scout Camp and helps to send at-risk Scouts to summer camp.
