With law enforcement agencies leading the way, the communities across the county will come together Tuesday evening to promote police-community partnerships at the 2010 National Night Out.
A bevy of events are planned in both Richmond Hill and Pembroke. In the south end of the county, festivities will be from 6-9 p.m. at J.F. Gregory Park in Richmond Hill. In the north, festivities will be from 7-9 p.m. on Railroad Street in downtown Pembroke.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
National Night Out is a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and is traditionally held the first Tuesday of August.
The campaign is in its 27th year nationwide and strives to bring citizens, law enforcement agencies, local officials, civic businesses and more together in a police-community partnership.
