The way he sees it, Dr. Christopher Garner is meeting a need in Richmond Hill – a need for more primary care physicians in a growing community. He is relocating his Wilmington Island practice to Richmond Hill Medical Associates on April 3.
The Macon native earned his medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine at the Greenville Health System in South Carolina. Garner moved back to Savannah to be near his parents and sister.
He said he sees obesity as the biggest health challenge facing adults today.
“My best advice is to eat healthy and exercise,” he said. “It sounds simple, and it is. We just have to make a commitment, do it every day, and get right back on track when we make a mistake.”
He has a special interest in assisting those with chronic medical conditions, such as diabetes and hypertension.
“Helping those patients learn to control and manage their disease is the best part of what I do,” Garner said. “It is so rewarding to see them take charge and feel confident in their abilities.”
Garner is now accepting new patients ages 18 and older for illnesses and injuries, annual checkups, immunizations and more. Appointments are available at 912-756-2292. The practice is located at 3780 Highway 17 South, near Food Lion.
