Tree recycling Saturday at park

Richmond Hill residents who are unsure what to do with their real Christmas trees from the holiday season can not only dispose of them properly, but can also help the city at the same time.
The city will host its annual “Bring one for the Chipper” event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in J.F. Gregory Park. Christmas trees will be properly disposed of and turned into mulch to help beautify the park.
The event is an initiative of Keep Georgia Beautiful, which has worked with private sponsors for more than 20 years to help cities and communities recycle Christmas trees, providing mulch for playgrounds, government beautification projects and more.
The program involves hundreds of Georgia communities and thousands of volunteers. Since its inception, the program has recycled an estimated 5 million Christmas trees.
