Nov. 11: Capt. Matthew Freeman 5K Run for Peace - Support the Freeman Project and remember the sacrifice of Capt. Freeman with this race on Veterans Day. Fees are $25 for advanced registration and $30 on race day. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and race begins at 9 a.m. For information on registering and to learn about the Freeman Project, please visit www.freemanproject.org.

Annual Veterans Day Observance - Honor our nation’s heroes on this special day at the Veterans Monument in J.F. Gregory Park. Event begins at 11 a.m. with a guest speaker from Fort Stewart. Light refreshments will follow.

Arts on the Coast Fall Exhibit - This non-profit arts organization will celebrate the opening of their 2010 Fall Exhibit, which will run from Nov. 11-19, with a reception at the Richmond Hill City Center (520 Cedar St.) from 6-8:30 p.m. Take in original artwork by over 20 local artists, mingle, and enjoy refreshments and a cash bar. Nov. 12:
Military Spouses’ Night Out -
First Baptist Church of Richmond Hill (9184 Ford Ave.) hosts an evening of fellowship open to all military spouses (need not be a parishioner, and spouse need not be deployed). Babies and children up to fifth grade can be provided with supervision and activities in another section of the church. Please call 756-2196 to reserve your space.

Nov. 15:
Festival of Trees -
Decorated Christmas trees and wreaths, a gingerbread village, visit from Santa, local performers and vendors highlight the festival. This event will go on daily from 1-6 p.m. through 11/20 at the Georgia Southern University Nessmith-Lane Continuing Education Building (847 Plant Dr, Statesboro). Proceeds from raffle ticket sales benefit children and families through Christmas in the Boro. Call 478-5555 for details.
