Aug. 10: Common Threads – Get a jump-start on creating homemade gifts for the holidays by learning to knit or crochet. The Richmond Hill Public Library’s Common Threads group meets each Wednesday at 10 a.m. with the goal of learning, fellowship and improving skills of knitters of all skill levels. You may also choose to donate your finished pieces to Project Linus or Warm Up America, which accept blankets and hats for the needy. For more information, call 756-3580.

Kayak for a Kure –
Grab your paddle and join the American Diabetes Association in kayaking three miles from Butterbean Beach to the UGA Extension Service Aquarium. Novices to experts are invited. Aug. 14:
Mercer jazz tribute –
The Coastal Jazz Association presents vocalist Barbara Rosene, who has worked with the Harry James Orchestra, Les Paul, and the Woody Allen Orchestra, singing classics by Johnny Mercer.  Tribute will take place at the Westin Savannah Harbor (1 Resort Dr., Hutchinson Island) at 5 p.m. Show is free for CJA members or $10 for the general public.
