Oct. 24: Military Appreciation Day — The Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair comes to Statesboro this week with carnival rides, food and fun for the whole family. Thursday, military families receive discounts on admission and entertainment. Yellow fever comes to Savannah — Savannah’s historic Davenport House presents “Dreadful Pestilence: Savannah’s yellow fever epidemic of 1820,” a one-hour program allowing guests to experience firsthand the deadly illness that nearly decimated the city almost a hundred years ago. Guests will move through the house and the garden by candlelight and witness a doctor’s treatment of a fever victim. Oct. 27Shalom Y’all: Jewish Food Festival — Explore Jewish food and customs from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Savannah’s Forsyth Park. The festival draws more than 10,000 people each year and provides guests with ethnic foods, music dance and even puppet shows. Tickets are only $1 each and can be purchased at one of two ticket booths on the day of the event.
