Oct. 4-6: Oktoberfest on River Street — Downtown Savannah is hosting its 30th annual weekend-long festival on the river celebrating fall, food, beer and fun. Special attractions include wiener dog races, bratwurst tasting, sausage eating contests and a River Street keg roll. There will also be live music and a Beer Garden. The event kicks off in Rousakis Plaza at noon Friday and doesn’t end until 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 912-234-0295.

Oct. 5:
Richmond Hill Pumpkin Patch — For the 14th year, the Richmond Hill Garden Club will host a morning full of pumpkins and the feeling of fall from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at J.F. Gregory Park. Garden club volunteers will be selling 500 pumpkins as well as a variety of seasonal plants and flowers. Guests are invited to play games, take pictures with the pumpkins, compete in a bake-off to help the club raise money to fund a college scholarship for a Richmond Hill High School student. Poppell Farms grand season opening — The 10-acre farm and corn maze in Odum will host its grand opening for the 2013 fall season. Kids can hang out with the “Peanuts” gang — Charlie Brown, Lucy and Linus — in the pumpkin patch, ride the cow train, feed the farm animals in the petting zoo and even try their hand at steer roping.
